Final Fantasy 10 includes its own "limit breaks," known as Overdrives. When a character goes into overdrive he/she unleashes a very powerfull attack, or several attacks. The overdrives differ between the characters, as Auron, for instance, unleashes a powerfull physical attack while Lulu, for instance, casts one spell several times.

Tidus's overdrive is not very complicated, but also is one of the best. When you select "overdrive" with Tidus, it will bring up a window with a meter in it. On the meter a mark will move back and forth, and a timer will drop above the meter. The sooner you hit "X" in the center area of the meter, the more damage you do.

Aurons overdrive involves hitting the correct button sequence in the least amount of time. The sooner you finish, the more damage it does, but if you mess up you have to start over. Most of Auron's overdrives involve a status aliament, along with lots of damage.
