As you’ve certainly noticed in Final Fantasy X, the actual strength of your characters isn’t dependent on the weapon itself. So what’s so great about these celestial weapons? Aside from their cool-looking designs, each weapon consists of the most powerful attributes, which are otherwise very difficult to obtain. But before you go trying to get these powerful creations, a little prior knowledge is necessary. Each weapon requires three pieces, the weapon itself, a crest, and a sigil, to fully power up the weapon. Without the crest or the sigil the weapon has the No AP ability only. Even with the crest, the weapon still sucks. Only after collecting both the crest and sigil does the weapon become an awesome one. Each celestial weapon is contained within a special treasure chest which cannot be opened by normal means. To open them, you will need the celestial mirror.

Getting the Cloudy Mirror:
Before we can get the celestial mirror, first we must obtain the cloudy mirror. After getting the airship, go to the Calm Lands and get a chocobo. On top of the southern cliff on the very right side, you will notice a broken bridge with a chocobo feather next to it. Examine it while riding the chocobo to fly across the chasm. Follow this path until you reach the Remiem temple. Go across the long bridge and veer to the left. There you will see a chocobo and a sphere on the floor. Examine the sphere, then head to the other side. There will be another chocobo. Talk to him to start a mini game. To get the cloudy mirror, simply beat to other chocobo to the bottom. Don’t even worry about getting the chests. Note: You may want to play this game again. The most boxes you can get in one run and still win is 5. Some of the prizes are very good, so I would recommend playing this game either now, or later when you come for the Magus Sisters and the Moon Sigil (you are getting those, right?).

Getting the Celestial Mirror:
Now that we have the cloudy mirror, we can power it up to get the celestial mirror. Head to the Calm Lands again, but this time, backtrack to Macalania Woods. Walk around the woods until you find a kid and his mother. Talk to them and you will learn that the child’s father is missing. Backtrack and find the father and talk to him. Go back to the group and talk to the father and/or mother twice. You’ll then find out that their son is missing. Walk up the crystalline path on the left side. Follow the path until you find an intersection and go north. Speak to the child and then talk to the giant flower-thing in the back to upgrade the cloudy mirror into the celestial mirror.

After obtaining the celestial weapon and the crest, return to the place where you upgraded the mirror to improve your weapons. You must have the crest before you can upgrade using the sigil.

Note: Even if you have both the crest and the sigil, you must perform the upgrading ritual twice, once for the crest, and again with the sigil.
