Slapahoe’s Thunder Plains FAQ
The Thunder Plains mini game is definitely one of the
most difficult mini games to master. Following this
list of helpful tips and suggestions might help.
First off, get a piece of equipment with the ability
“No Encounters.” This will help tremendously, since
you will be able to focus your attention on the
lightning and not the monsters. Also, it won’t take
nearly as long with “No Encounters.” “No Encounters”
can be added to a piece of armor by using 30 Purifying
Salts. Capturing is the best way to obtain Purifying
Salts, but unlocking Fafnir to get 99 may take awhile.
Consult the Capturing portion of the site for more
info.
Pick a time that’s good for you. Not in the game
itself, but a good time in real life. Have enough
extra time available to complete it (about 20 minutes
in a good area if you don’t get hit). Also consider
when you personally are most awake, whether that be
early morning, midday, evening, or late at night for
you nocturnal folks.
Close curtains, turn off lights, and make the room you
are in dark. Being in a dark room will enable you to
see the flashes of lightning easier. This may not
seem important, but every little bit of help is good.
Free yourself of distractions. Don’t make a sandwich
and try and eat it while you do this. Don’t watch
T.V. or be playing something else. Remove any other
distractions too, such as friends, younger members of
the family, or pets. This requires your FULL
attention.
Once you start, you can’t stop! You can NOT go back
to the Travel Agency to check on how many jumps you’ve
done. If you do, you will reset the count. Also,
don’t try to save while attempted to reach 200 dodges.
This will reset the count too.
Take breaks while dodging. After awhile, I could feel
myself becoming very tense and nervous. If you decide
to take breaks, make sure you don’t forget what number
you are on, and do it right after a jump, so you don’t
get struck while pausing or unpausing. I took breaks
at the following intervals: 50, 50, 25, 25, 25, 10,
10, and 5.
After you think you’ve reached 200 jumps, do a few
more based on how well you counted. Nothing would be
more painful than if you missed it because you counted
wrong. In fact, when I did it, I counted to 203 and
ended up with 202! Had I not done 3 extra, I would
have only done 199 and had to redo the entire thing!!!
If you find that you are the type of person that
becomes jittery due to foods like caffeine or sugar,
stay away from these things. Again, total focus on
you objective.

just general questions, feel free to ask me.
